Preparing healing plant food & holding a space for others to just ‘be’. I always say that ‘what’s inside always comes out’ you just can’t hide from it - and I don’t mean just the food 😜 I mean ‘ones truth’: anxiety, stress, love, hate, fear, happiness, sadness. All of it. All of our emotions can spill out when we Detox. When we stop thinking that we HAVE to keep holding it in. Gotta let go of it all (good stuff & bad stuff) to make space for the new stuff (good & bad) Just don’t blame the cheese. Or the cheese makers. Or those holding that space for you... hardest thing in the world sometimes to do. But allowing those around you to hold space while you learn to let go can often help create some of the most powerful and beautiful relationships ever. People looked at me shocked when I first talked about serving up chocolate smoothies & chocolate treats at my bootcamps @Rawjuicecamp and retreats. When it's high vibration raw vegan cuisine that's gourmet standard: that's always a good decision and perfect fuel for my guests. I believe we were the first 'Bootcamp outfit' to start serving raw chocolate at camp some years ago and give workshops on how to make raw chocolate and a whole host of other raw vegan treats. I believe that if you want lifetime health & wellness you have to start on the greens but know how to indulge yourself healthily. I love that we don't follow any of the 'standard' rules for ‘fat farms’ and we don't follow calorie counts or punishing routines. We don't suggest that you can big up your fitness and then blow it all on the wrong treats: like 'the odd mcdonalds' or 'a cheeky prosecco every night'. It doesn't work. You'll eventually come to realise that loving yourself means treating yourself with gorgeous nourishment. And not taking it all so seriously. Life should be fun. Sharing space in my kitchen when I have my chef head on isn't always an easy job for me but it was a gorgeous delight with @lauren_lovatt in Portugal at our amazing boot camp retreats last year as we spent most of the time dreaming up plates (fabulous), stuffing our faces with delish food (always) and serving our guests the best food we know how to make. 🌟🌟🌟MAKE & EAT THIS WITH ME AT MY NEXT RETREATS. Helloooo! **PERSONAL UPDATE** I’m not usually one to post personal pics in here (I have a personal account for that) and let’s face it, you came here for the foooood!! Saying that I wanted to officially announce our news! Andrew and I got engaged 💕💍 at Christmas. Wahoo! We are so excited about all that’s ahead for us. I’ve known Andrew since I was 6 years old. Which is 42+ years! (I like to take my time deciding 😂) I’ve been rather quiet for a little while. Decluttering my house (and kitchen!!! Eek!) ready for a big move back to my homeland of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 so we can finally live under the same roof! It’s also the reason why I’m not hosting a Spring @rawjuicecamp (the next ones are Sept & Oct) (my retreats in August are still super stuck in the diary so don’t panic!) this is because Spring will be mega busy moving house and teaching for me. The wedding 👰 is pencilled in for next year (exciting!) but more of a priority for us is finding the right home. I’m not sure yet what this means for all my raw projects, teaching & retreats but I know for SURE that there’ll be more good stuff to come. I’ll be aligning my future business projects more closely with my true purpose of helping others bring their food to life. I really want to further combine my professional coaching skills (in a former life I was a Leadership Development Consultant in The City and thrived on helping people discover their true potential) What that means exactly for Explore Raw requires much more thought and as soon as I’ve reshaped things I’ll let you know! I’ve also currently put a book project and some very intense recipe development on hold. In the interim I’m exploring new venues, working for private clients and I’m still writing recipes and teaching (not so many public classes at the moment due to time restraints) so mainly private classes and tuition. Meanwhile I’m enjoying being MIDDLE AGED & ENGAGED and taking my foot off the accelerator for a short while. I do love a good #coffee especially in the winter time when I feel I need for a good grounding, a boost of energy and an indulgence of coffee taste. I will always, however, blend my coffees with tree mushroom superfoods, nut milks and all the goodness from beautiful plant based foods. I often add a few drops of good quality #CBD oil as part of my wellness protocol. Coffee definitely sends me a bit #gaga so I often indulge in more healing hot tonic drinks. At my retreats I make lots of varieties of lattes and superfood coffee alternatives - there’s a WHOLE WORLD out there of raw pleasure to be explored. I do enjoy the thrill of sharing these tonic drinks with others. And here’s one just for you! When you really want an espresso but don’t want a coffee – this one just might do the trick! And the secret? Like any coffee – make it work for you and play with the recipe. Ingredients ☕️ 1 tbsp Reishi mushroom powder ☕️1 tbsp Chaga mushroom powder ☕️ 1 tbsp Cacao powder ☕️ 1 tbsp Maca powder ☕️ 1 tsp Xylitol ☕️ Plant based milk of your choice – try almond mylk ☕️ drops of quality high grade CBD (THC free) Oil (optional) You will notice that in the ingredients there are no ‘measurements’ for making just one cup – that’s because I usually make a batch of powders and store in a jar and dip in to this regularly. So – to create your own blend you may wish to vary the ingredients. I usually also grind the xylitol down in my @tribestuk personal blender so it’s not grainy and it’s easier to blend in with the powder. Put one heaped teaspoon of your powder blend in the bottom of a glass or mug. Pour over with enough boiled water (not boiling but boiled and slightly rested) to cover the blend and stir with a teaspoon to create a paste and get rid of any powdery bits or lumps. Add more water as required. A tiny peak in to my personal space: my kitchen! 📷 by @gohomesfamily Here it is looking all tidy and sparkly clean ready for selling up (I’m moving house, wahoo!) it’s not always this tidy of course, and lots of my juicers and machines have been banished to my Cookery School cupboard: aka the big old cupboard under the stairs! This kitchen was installed by my then partner with all supplies from @bandq_uk in 2012 as the final room to be done as part of my house refurb. And it’s still looking as gorgeous and new! Now my reason for posting is this: not all chefs have ‘big awesome tv style chef kitchens’. I certainly don’t (this awesome kitchen is tiny) and most of my chef friends PINE for a massive designer space at home. My kitchen here didn’t always look so glamorous: it was an old tired 80’s kitchen in a tired old Victorian terraced house that had really seen better days. Was full of slugs and all sorts of crawling things. Doors falling off and shelves rotting. Nice eh?! BUT it was clean and THE place where I learned to prepare awesome plantbased foods. Juice. Blend and more. It was THE kitchen I had when I ‘started raw’ and lost 120lbs, reversed the symptoms of PCOS and changed my life forever. It’s also the kitchen where I recipe tested ALL my creations for my book and where my book ‘Spiralize!’ was born. So if you are aspiring for greater kitchen awesomeness PLEASE don’t hold out for that ‘perfect kitchen’ before you get started. Just get started. Eat more veggies and fruits. Create space for letting go. Start juicing. Learn how to make green smoothies. If you don’t have a blender: try to borrow one. Check out the charity shops and all means for getting one second hand. But whatever you do: just start. Life’s too short to put things on hold until you are ‘living the dream’. Instead try making life more dreamy by making changes one little step at a time. It’s not the kitchen. It’s YOU.
