Another Raw, gluten-free, pure and clean recipe!
Ah don’t ya just love Autumn! The changing seasons always bring about a change in our menus especially if we are working with seasonal fruits and veggies! Let’s not forget all the fabulous nights out that come with Autumn: Halloween, bonfire night, lots of fireworks, Thanksgiving…. all leading up to a wonderful festive period! I LOVE this time of year!
I know that if you are exploring raw foods in the colder months it can be harder to get to grips with things. The thought of lots of salad and icy juices just doesn’t cut it when we want warming and soothing foods to keep us aglow. That’s why it’s great to get your hands on lots of warming recipes that are good for the soul – and the waistline! Winter wellness relies on enzymes – so add sprouts to everything! And get some blended warm soups in the body with lots of seasonal spices!
Try working with lots of raw soups, hot teas, spices and chillies to keep the blood pumping – and as the days get colder then why not try this delicious pumpkin soup recipe! You can actually substitute the pumpkin for butternut squash or sweet potato too!
Pumpkin Soup Recipe
Helps to use up those pumpkin brains once you’ve carved the faces out for halloween!
- 2 cups freshly made carrot juice
- 2 cups fresh pumpkin flesh (or squash or sweet potato)
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon quality honey or other liquid sweetener
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (or juice 1 finger size root in carrot juice)
- 2 satsumas (or one orange)
- 1 thumb ginger root
- 1 tablespoon tahini
Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender. Serve warmed. Not boiled. I served this with a spoon of raisins soaked overnight in apple juice and cinnamon. I always seem to have a bowl of soaked fruits hanging around in the colder months loaded with cinnamon and nutmeg! Get a load of those spices….
