The toughest part of anything is the ‘getting started’ part. For sure!! The ironing, the washing up, making the bed, going for a walk, starting that exercise regime, doing your homework, washing the car… ok so we get it, right? And don’t you sometimes find that once you have done ‘IT’ you often say to yourself – well that didn’t actually take that long after all – or – it wasn’t really that hard. Often the hardest part can be just getting up and doing it in the first place. Trying to get the momentum going. Getting up off the sofa or just plain doing it!
I can pretty much guarantee that the benefits of just getting on with it FAR outweigh the effort of getting the momentum going in the first place. The satisfaction of just doing it, without fighting it or resisting doing it, really make it seem like no effort at all!
If we quit resisting – there IS no effort! We are simply doing it.
So if we apply this to ‘going on a diet’ we could say that if we just did it and worked towards the satisfaction of our results, then there is no pain or effort involved at all! If the only ‘pain’ comes from the resistance. Are you with me on this one…? I KNOW you are with me on this one – we all KNOW that if we engage with the resistance it sometimes gets so that we often don’t get started at all. And what a shame to miss out on all the benefits of getting started.
So what are we waiting for?
Sometimes we wait for inspiration. Sometimes we wait for Mondays. Sometimes we wait for signs.
